The 280 seat El Patio Lounge, shown here facing starboard, begins the line up of public rooms on Rendezvous Deck. The ceiling fixture is gone, but the wood paneling, brass balustrades and original Italian chairs remain. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

The shopping arcade, shown facing aft, continues aft on the port side and has been expanded to include the space from the original shopping gallery and Chandris' THE VICTORIA casino. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

The 45 seat Galleon Bar, shown facing aft, is just behind the El Patio Lounge on the starboard side. It retains most of its original look, making it one of the finest vintage rooms still afloat. The galleon marquetry panel is now gone, but the wood paneling, sturdy Italian chairs, and etched glass panels remain. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

This is a close look at the backlit, etched mirrored panels in the forward portion of the Galleon Bar. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

Just aft of the Galleon Bar on the starboard side, Rendezvous Deck opens up onto the 30 seat Winter Garden. Inboard of the Winter Garden is the Slots Room, originally the VICTORIA's Library. This view is facing forward. Photo by and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

A large lobby is just aft of the Shopping Arcade and the Slots Room on Rendezvous Deck. A large ceramic mosaic from the Incres era is located on the forward bulkhead. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

On the port side of the lobby, a stairwell leads up to Pearl Deck, as shown in this image. In some respects, with its hammered metal relief, it hearkens to the stairwells on 1960s- built Italian ships like OCEANIC and EUGENIO C. On the starboard side, the stairs lead down to Sapphire Deck. The 230 seat Riviera Club, shown here facing aft, was completely remodeled by Chandris in the late 1980s and remains very contemporary. With its extra ceiling height and large windows that look out onto the Lido, it is one of the ship's most popular rooms. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

The remarkably spacious 220 seat Cinema is very much the same as it was in Incres days, save for new soft fittings. This view is facing forward from Sapphire Deck level. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

From forward Emerald Deck, this view of the Cinema is looking aft toward the polished wood paneling at the entrance. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

The Main Entrance Lobby is just aft of the Cinema on Sapphire Deck. The port side, shown here in a forward-facing view, contains the information desk, while the starboard side is now home to a small gift shop. The circular ceiling recesses are typical of many postwar Italian ships with their concealed lighting. A second lobby, recently modified to meet the latest SOLAS standards, is further aft. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.

Only the central portion of the former Bamboo Room remains on aft Sapphire Deck. The port and starboard spaces were replaced with six large cabins during the ship's Chandris years. This view is facing forward in what is now the 30 seat Library/Card Room. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 1997.
