Another fine book from Carmania Press.

FRED.OLSEN AND ITS PASSENGER SHIPS

By Anthony Cooke

A new book by Anthony Cooke is something to celebrate and the subject matter of his latest tome is a 'peach': - Fred. Olsen & Co. of Oslo. This family-controlled business is proudly Norwegian, but it also has strong British connections. Dating back to 1848, Fred. Olsen & Co. is currently involved in many aspects of the shipping and energy business, yet the firm is perhaps better known for its ferries and, above all, its cruise ships, which are among the most popular vessels in the British market. With the likes of the liners Black Prince, Black Watch, Balmoral, Boudicca and Braemar, the Olsens offer, by today's standards, a firmly personal, almost intimate, service to their passengers. Here, for the first time, is an authoritative history of the many characterful passenger ships that Olsen has owned over many years. As usual, Anthony Cooke writes with great authority and illustrates his book with superb colour and mono photographs in equal measure.
